Jefferson Water and Protect the North Santiam River\" href=\"http:\/\/books.google.com\/books?id=4YvWm-MJ-a4C&amp;pg=PA267&amp;lpg=PA267&amp;dq=opal+creek+mike+donnelly&amp;source=bl&amp;ots=8GHNBoQzZH&amp;sig=UoQaCKjxc3lkJ9Q44qxuJyQbvtM&amp;hl=en&amp;sa=X&amp;ei=mJj5ULmLCcXw2QW804CQDQ&amp;ved=0CEIQ6AEwAw#v=onepage&amp;q=opal%20creek%20mike%20donnelly&amp;f=false\" target=\"_blank\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Michael Donnelly&#8217;<\/span><\/em><\/a>\u00a0.\u00a0<\/strong>At the turning point in the <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a title=\"Opal Creek Ancient Forest Hike\" href=\"https:\/\/maps.google.com\/?q=http:\/\/share.abvio.com\/7ae0\/127c\/4e8d\/4290\/Runmeter-Hike-20120922-1347.kml\" target=\"_blank\">loop hike<\/a><\/span><\/em>, we chickened out of plunging into the inviting Opal Pool and checked out <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a title=\"Jawbone Flats\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ghosttowns.com\/states\/or\/jawboneflats.html\" target=\"_blank\">Jawbone Flats<\/a><\/span><\/em>, a fascinating former mining town, complete with rusting machinery and an education center run by the Friends of Opal Creek, with examples of the community&#8217;s self sufficiency and living &#8220;off the grid&#8221;, as well as cabin rentals.<\/p>\n<p>Starting out in Photoshop Lightroom, this photo was run through Photo Matix to create a quasi HDR image.
