New Word Press site

November 6, 2009 by admin 2 Comments

I’ve decided to “self host” with Word Press.  Hopefully this should give me the ability to better control the theme & layout of my site.  To test it out I’m going to play with a few posts.  Here is a photo for you.

My guess regarding single/multiple frame HDR:

Top image has richer colors and is “sharper” because there is no motion in the weeds from a tiny bit of air movement. Hard to tell from a quick look. My experience is that unless a rock solid tripod is used (doesn’t happen very often for me), images aligned in PhotoShope and tone mapped in PhotoMatix are better than just done in PhotoMatix because of the better alignment.

I also find that a surprising number of my shots look better processed as single frames UNLESS there is a truly wild range in brightness. On the other hand, I very seldom have time to compose and set a tripod and do a lot of hand held shots using whatever support is handy.

I am about ready to try WordPress and a blog. I have a web site that I could use. But I haven’t found a template that pleases me. And I am not about to dabble in arcane code to make one of my own. I did that to make a web site and it just simply wasn’t worth it. (It is genetic. I just don’t like messing with code … although I am a high-techy in every sense of the work. I design integrated circuits and have things on Mars and on the way to Jupiter and on several satellites, etc. What do you think?
