I am going to Cape Town South Africa this afternoon for the International Conference of Public Administration, ICPA, to present a paper on Massive Open Online Classes, (MOOCs).
I argued at the National Academy of Public Administration Social Equity conference that the US Supreme Court would rule DOMA unconstitutional and allow only California to have same sex marriage. The result is that same sex couples in 38 states will have no federal rights to marital benefits…about 300, 000 plus couples…and that this is separate but unequal treatment, much like Plessy v. Ferguson where it took African American s 100 years to have equal rights…

Today Wally Swan is at the American Society for Public Administration conference in New Orleans. He spoke this afternoon on “The Context for Recent Advances in Social Equity”. He is pictured with Antoinette Samuel, Executive Director of ASPA, Jose Luis Irizarry, Vice Chair and Chair Claire Mostel of ASPA’s LGBT Advocacy Alliance , and Eric Bergrud, immediate Past President of ASPA.

Wally is at Downtown Minneapolis Council Annual Meeting. This is my friend Tom Hoch who is head of Hennepin Theater Trust (Orpheum, State, Pantages renovation) and Downtown Improvement District speaking to over 1000 people.
Wally Swan is just leaving Chicago International on Air India 126 to Delhi, then Hyderabad for International Conference on Public Administration 2012, where he will present a paper about online, face to face and hybrid public administration education and co-moderate a panel..
Wally Swan, along with thousands of Minnesotans is at the Minnesota Orchestra concert…whose members were locked out by management, (click here for story). The orchestra is conducted by Stanislaw Skrowaczevski, world famous conductor.
