Old Highway 395 provides the conclusion to the Alabama Hills gallery. The pinnacle of the drive was our hike to see the Ancient Bristlecone Pines and Mono Lake. It was cold and snowy during the Bristlecone Pine hike, but this made for interesting photography.
Mono Lake had subdued lighting, which didn't help, but still it is a beautiful and intriguing place. The lake is shrouded in controversy as the detour of freshwater to Los Angeles, drained the lake and raised its salinity levels. For more info: Modern History of Mono Lake
